Are We There Yet? Surviving the Wilderness
Tired of living in the wilderness instead of the Promised Land? Are you living beside the promises of God instead of in them? The wilderness journey of the children of Israel is much more than history; it’s a roadmap, a blueprint written in human lives thousands of years ago. This complex story full of drama, emotion, intrigue, and death is fascinating, but more amazing is what it means to God’s church today. What happened then is happening now and the journey continues on in us. Hidden within the story and the lives of those who were the original cast members, this intriguing story parallels the journey we each must take from slavery to freedom. The improbable plot line includes an eighty-plus year old leader and people of all ages, sizes, and capabilities who fled into the desert without enough food, water, or strategy. And yet, they not only survived but, the story of their trek has been carved into the annals of history as the original “Great Escape.” This wilderness adventure included raging seas which split in two, rivers bursting out of rocks, food falling from the sky, and battles which hinged on one man’s arms. It’s a tale of two nations, the best of times and the worst of times. The children of Israel were people just like you and me. They had hopes, dreams, and fears. They had their moments of faith and their seasons of doubt, and they had audacious obedience followed by acts of self-destructive rebellion. Sound familiar? We can learn much from re-tracing their steps and interpreting them in such a way that makes their journey a step-by-step guide for us as we too, have to make the journey to freedom. This book is both historical and current, it’s the past and it’s the future all interwoven into one impossible journey. If you’re ready to leave “Egypt” and find out what personal promises and revelations are waiting for you, then step back into history and into your future with “Are We There Yet?” Surviving the Wilderness. About the Author Gail Riddle (S.G. Riddle) has always had a love of writing, but this book was born out of a curious question and her fascination with how the Old Testament and the New Testament fit together…despite being written by many different people over many thousands of years. What began as a simple look at the historical exodus of the nation of Israel from Egypt, turned into the adventure of a lifetime and, eventually, this book. As Gail studied and shared with others, the truths hidden within the wilderness journey began to emerge as a roadmap for our life’s journey today. While this book took twenty years to make it from a personal journal into your hands, there was a lot of life lived in-between and many opportunities for Gail, her family, and the church they pastor to walk out the message inside. It has been read, taught, and approved by many pastors, teachers, and counselors. Much more than an intellectual exercise or another how-to book, what you will learn from “Are We There Yet? Surviving the Wilderness” is how to become a mature Christian and journey from where you are - to living in the promises the LORD has for you. Gail lives in Washington State with her husband of thirty-six years and surrounded by the families of their three children and six grandchildren (so far). She is a pastor's wife and has had the privilege of serving the LORD with an incredible church family since 1999. Her passion is to tell people this simple truth: "YOU MATTER TO GOD!" The LORD desires a personal love relationship with each of us, and He is waiting to reveal Himself and His truths to anyone who will listen. When you know how much God loves you, then you will trust Him wherever He leads...even through the wilderness! keywords: Exodus, Holiness, Wilderness Survival, Promised Land, Journey, Freedom, Egypt, Children Of Israel, Christian Maturity, Ten Commandments
