Monoclonal antibodies are manufactured antibodies which are used for marking and identifying particular molecules. This has applications for diagnosing disease or for any experiment where a particular organic molecule needs to be identified. They can also be used for the delivery of drugs to specific target cells, e.g. for cancer treatment. Monoclonal antibodies are also used/have the potential to be used for immune suppression for conditions such as arthritis, HIV treatments, biosensors, detection of blood clots, and the treatment of septic shock therapy. This book will be of value to final year undergraduate and postgraduate students in biochemistry, applied biology, biomedical sciences, pharmacy and biotechnology, and people working in the biotechnology industry.
