With Canada's extensive system of rivers and lakes, it hardly comes as a surprise that the order Trichoptera is well represented in this country. The present edition is a revised and updated from an edition published in 1980 in French. Much progress in our knowledge has been made since then. This book deals with the adult stage only. The classification of several taxa of Trichoptera is currently in a period of change and instability. The author has adopted a traditionalist and conservative attitude and has not accepted the existence of families based on larval characters only.
