We are very pleased to present this special issue on Police behavior. Dr Kenneth Novak
has done an outstanding job in bringing together a diverse group of scholars and
researchers to explore many of the issues involved in understanding police officer
behavior. This issue has been in the making for over a year and Dr Novak’s tireless
effort is largely responsible for the ultimate success. We want to take this opportunity
to express our gratitude to Dr Novak and all of the contributors to this special issue for
their support of the journal.
As always, the issue contains the “Perspectives on policing” feature which reviews
and summarizes much of the latest published research on policing. Unfortunately,
recent issues have failed to identify the contributors of the “Perspectives on policing”
segment. We apologize for this oversight and regret that these reviewers were not
recognized for their contributions to the journal. The previous three issues of the
journal contained “Perspectives on policing” segments authored as follows:
. Volume 27, No. 3 – Denise Nation and Brandon Webster;
. Volume 27, No. 4 – Luahana Winningham and Kelly Boller; and
. Volume 28, No. 1 – Brandon Webster and Jennifer Webster.
We regret this error.
As always, we welcome your suggestions and opinions about how we can improve
the journal. Please feel free to contact us, should you have questions, comments, or
concerns. We encourage you to consider submitting manuscripts to the journal for
publication consideration, and volunteering to serve as a manuscript referee. For the
journal to continue its tradition of high standards requires the participation of police
practitioners and scholars in the important roles of author and reviewer.
