J. J. Kellers OSHA Safety Instructors Guide
This 104-page guide is filled with tips for the trainer. It also includes the answers to the quiz questions, additional quizzes, employee handouts, and new alternative training methods (e.g., crossword puzzles), summarized OSHA safety information that can be used as overheads, and additional information to aid the trainer.
J. J. Keller’s OSHA Safety Instructor’s Guide has been designed to be used with J. J. Keller’s OSHA Safety Training Handbook to provide information and guidance to the person conducting the training sessions.
The Instructor’s Guide is much like a teacher’s edition of a textbook, providing structure, background information, and coordinating materials to help organize a safety training program. If J. J. Keller’s OSHA Safety Training Handbook is used in one-on-one or group training sessions, the Instructor’s Guide will help the trainer convey the information in the handbook’s chapters and provide additional explanation on the topic being presented.

Using the Instructor’s Guide
Following are descriptions of each of the sections in the Instructor’s Guide.
Training Program Planning Checklist
This section of the Instructor’s Guide provides you with a checklist you can use as you prepare training sessions. It can help you ensure that you have obtained all the resources you need for a successful class, that employees have been notified about the training session, and that the classroom is ready for the training session.
J. J. Keller’s OSHA Safety Training Handbook
This section of the Instructor’s Guide starts with a brief summary of the information contained in each chapter of the handbook.
This section also provides the trainer with an outline of the information found in each chapter. You can photocopy these outlines onto transparencies to show as overheads as you present the training session. Overheads can help keep the presentation focused.
In addition to the quizzes at the end of each chapter in J. J. Keller’s OSHA Safety Training Handbook, this section of the Instructor’s Guide provides an employee exercise to test employees’ comprehension of the material covered in each chapter. The word puzzle format is designed to help you introduce a little fun in the training session. You can photocopy the employee exercises and give copies to each employee to complete, or you can use the employee exercise as an overhead and complete it as a group at the end of the class.
The Instructor’s Guide provides you with two different types of training logs to help you keep track of your training sessions. The Training Session Log is a sign-in sheet to use during the training session. It allows you to keep attendance records for each training session.
The Individual Training Log is designed to help you easily obtain information on all of the training an employee has received. You can update the employee’s training information after the class and keep the completed form in the employee’s training file.
Chapter Quizzes Answer Key
The answer key to the chapter quizzes in J. J. Keller’s OSHA Safety Training Handbook is included in the Instructor’s Guide so that you have easy access to the correct answers. It’s a good practice to return corrected quizzes to the employees so that they can see how well they understand the material. You may also want to keep photocopies of the completed quizzes in the employee’s training file as a record of your evaluation of the employee’s understanding.
