Biology of Soil Science is an important branch of agriculture which deals with studies of different areas like soil physics; soil chemistry; soil fertility and plant nutrition; soil survey, genesis and classification, soil mineralogy, etc. it is, therefore, essential that this valuable natural resource is understood and conserved properly for sustained agricultural production in India. National agricultural production is mainly dependent upon one of the important natural resource like soil . The maintenance and improvement of soil productivity for sustained agricultural production necessitates the acquisition thorough knowledge of soil science. Therefore, the teaching of soil science is one of the most important factors for the agricultural development of the country, because the soil is involved in every kind of farming. This book primarily provides comprehensive overview on the role and behaviour of soils in both the man-made and the natural environment. Many farmers of India and abroad are not fully conversant with the methods of keeping good soil health and improving soil-fertility. Because of harmful side effect of chemical fertilizers we must also give encouragement of the farmers to use organic manures in the agricultural field without application of pesticidal compounds. The aim of this book is to help the interested farmers and students so that they can understand well the behaviour of the soils in various aspects as described in this book.
