About the author
Mick Hurbis-Cherrier has been teaching all levels of film and video production at Hunter College in New York City for more than a decade. He works professionally in both film and video and has performed a wide range of duties on films, including producing, writing, directing, cinematography, and editing. His films and videos have been shown around the country and have garnered prizes in many festivals.
Voice & Vision is a comprehensive manual for the independent filmmakers and film students who want a solid grounding in the tools, techniques, and processes of narrative film in order to achieve their artistic vision. * Rework the previsualization chapter to emphasize creative choices and how they affect the story--this will be a good complement to the logistical material in the chapter.
* Expand the section on directing actors.
* Update chapter 24 on distribution, which is a moving target.
* Make the book even more applicable to UK/Europe by including "Euro sidebars" to cover technical issues specific to Europe; introducing the equivalent UK term when a concept is introduced; and continuing to reference lots of non-US movies, which the current edition already does.
* Remove the Nagra material & merge the two chapters on sound.
* Add a glossary
* Update technical information throughout; include updates on HD and other technology changes.
