What if you could live again and again, until you got it right?

On a cold and snowy night in 1910, Ursula Todd is born to an English banker and his wife. She dies before she can draw her first breath. On that same cold and snowy night, Ursula Todd is born, lets out a lusty wail, and embarks upon a life that will be, to say the least, unusual. For as she grows, she also dies, repeatedly, in a variety of ways, while the young century marches on towards its second cataclysmic world war.

Does Ursula's apparently infinite number of lives give her the power to save the world from its inevitable destiny? And if she can -- will she?

Darkly comic, startlingly poignant, and utterly original -- this is Kate Atkinson at her absolute best.

What if you could relive your life until you got it right?
I was excited about this book, and really wanted to love it but I didn´t. However, I did liked the concept of the book, and the fact that the main character doesn´t exactly remember her previous lives, but rather just gets very strong hunches urging her to act in what others might consider crazy, but ultimately it´s for everyone´s own good. I thought the characters in the beginning (her family and maids) were very well developed, and the prose was magnificent. Unfortunately, later on in the book, I felt as if I were suddenly tossed into her other alternate lives surrounded by all these new people that hadn´t been properly introduced. Also, I would have appreciated a lot less us of German phrases, as I only have vague notions of that language, and some phrases were not translated at all. I did not like the ending at all. I would´ve much rather had her fall into darkness again one final time.
