From the Centre to the City is about the directions being taken in Australia to develop an Aboriginal curriculum in schools. Kevin Keeffe describes, analyses and criticises the meaning and place of Aboriginal culture in the Australian school curriculum, based partly on his personal experience after teaching school in North Queensland and Central Australia. The case studies presented lead to discussion of the many problems encountered in formulating an Aboriginal curriculum in the outback and the city, and of the solutions being developed.

This ground-breaking and very readable work includes theoretical discussions of the issues combined with examinations of pragmatic classroom concerns.
