In 2006, Amazon bought MobiPocket, but it continues to operate as an independent business. The goal of MobiPocket is to make ebooks readable on any portable device. They have a clear focus on the billion mobile handsets that are out there, but have also adapted MobiPocket reader for dedicated ebook devices.
