Your Personal ID (PID) is the unique identifier of the Mobipocket Reader software on your hand held or PC. The PID guarantees that an eBook that has been purchased by you can only be read on your machine. When you open an eBook, the Mobipocket Reader compares the PID on your device with the PID of the eBook you have purchased. The PID of your eBook will be the same as the PID that you entered into your eBooks.com account.
You can find your PID by opening Mobipocket Reader and clicking "Help"/"About".
Back to topTo register your Mobipocket Reader PID in your eBooks.com account, please open Mobipocket Reader and go to "Help"/"About". Your PID will be listed there. Copy this code, then log in to your eBooks.com account. Click on the link to "Register a PID" and paste your PID into one of the boxes provided, then click the "Register a PID" button. You can register up to two PID's on your eBooks.com account, you may need to do this if you want to read your eBook on your hand held device and on your PC.
If you change the hand held that you use to read your eBooks, you will need to change the PID associated with your ebooks. You can change your PID through your eBooks.com account by following the procedure above, or you may contact our friendly Support Staff who will be happy to update your details.
Back to topThis message indicates that the PID of the eBook you have purchased and the PID of your Reader software do not correspond. First, make sure that you have installed the latest Mobipocket Reader on your hand held device or PC. Then check the PID on your Mobipocket Reader software. Go to "Help"/"About" in Mobipocket Reader and make sure that the PID listed matches the PID that you have entered into your eBooks.com account exactly. It is a good idea to copy and paste the PID when adding to your account to ensure that it is entered correctly. Please also note that your PID is case sensitive.
Back to topMobipocket Reader ebooks have a .PRC file extension and Franklin eBookMan only accepts files with a .SEB extension. If you have an eBookMan connected to your computer, you simply need to double click on the PRC file in Windows Explorer. If however, you had another hand held device connected to your computer before installing your eBookMan, you will need to right click on the .PRC file in Windows Explorer and select "Send to eBookMan". This will create a .SEB file in the Franklin synchronization folder.
