  • Micro- and Nanostructured Multiphase Polymer Blend Systemsby Charef Harrats

    CRC Press 2005; US$ 159.95

Harrats (Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium) gathers current work on the formation of phase morphology in polymer blends and copolymers. Contributors consider the various types of blends, including thermosets, thermoplastics, thermoplastic vulcanizates, and structured copolymers, and debate processing, rheology, and crystallization aspects of t more...

  • Molecular interfacial phenomena of polymers and biopolymersby P Chen

    Woodhead Publishing Limited 2005; US$ 355.00

This book combines three fundamental areas of interest to the science and engineering community, these being material science, nanotechnology and molecular engineering. Although there have been various results published in this field, there has yet to be a fully comprehensive review. This book covers key research on molecular mechanisms and thermodynamic behaviour of (bio)polymer surfaces and interfaces, from theoretical and experimental perspectives. more...

  • Statistics of Linear Polymers in Disordered Mediaby Bikas K. Chakrabarti

    Elsevier 2005; US$ 175.00

With the mapping of the partition function graphs of the n-vector magnetic model in the n to 0 limit as the self-avoiding walks, the conformational statistics of linear polymers was clearly understood in early seventies. Various models of disordered solids, percolation model in particular, were also established by late seventies. Subsequently, investigations on the statistics of linear polymers or of self-avoiding walks in, say, porous medium or disordered lattices were started in early eighties. Inspite of the brilliant ideas forwarded and extensive studies made for the next two decades, the problem is not yet completely solved in its generality. This intriguing and important problem has remained since a topic of vigorous and active research.... more...

  • Phase Transitions in Polymersby Stephen Z.D. Cheng

    Elsevier 2008; US$ 185.00

A classical metastable state possesses a local free energy minimum at infinite sizes, but not a global one. This concept is phase size independent. We have studied a number of experimental results and proposed a new concept that there exists a wide range of metastable states in polymers on different length scales where their metastability is critically determined by the phase size and dimensionality. Metastable states are also observed in phase transformations that are kinetically impeded on the pathway to thermodynamic equilibrium. This was illustrated in structural and morphological investigations of crystallization and mesophase transitions, liquid-liquid phase separation, vitrification and gel formation, as well as combinations of these... more...

  • Lattice Models of Polymersby Carlo Vanderzande

    Cambridge University Press 1998; US$ 61.00

An introduction to lattice models of polymers - an area of intense research activity - for graduate students and researchers. more...
