En 2003, le Haut Commissariat des Nations Unies pour les Réfugiés (HCR), le Programme alimentaire mondial des Nations Unies (PAM) et le Fonds des Nations Unies pour l'Enfance (UNICEF) ont lancé une initiative conjointe dans le but d'identifier, à partir de recherches de terrain menées auprès de plusieurs communautés de réfugiés en Afrique, un ensemble de stratégies visant à renforcer la prévention, l'appui, et les soins en matière de VIH, ainsi que les traitements aux personnes vivant avec le VIH, au moyen d'interventions basées sur l'alimentation et la nutrition. Cette importante initiative collaborative est née de la prise de conscience du caractère unique des milieux de réfugiés et de la nécessité de mener des travaux de recherche spécifiques au sein des populations de réfugiés et en collaboration avec elles. Ce présent livret décrit le processus de recherche mis en oeuvre et les résultats obtenus dans le cadre de cette initiative interorganisations.
