Margaret Simons went to Canberra to subject the journalists to a journalist's eye. The result is a penetrating and personal story about a world both extraordinary and ordinary, where the barriers between the personal and the political shift and blur.. "In both its form and content, this book is a call for a reinvigoration of journalism. It is at once a documentary account of the Canberra Press Gallery, the story of a personal journey through journalism, and a reminder that information will always be about power.

Margaret Simons has had a 15-year career in journalism, during which she has worked for The Age and The Australian, trained journalists at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and News Ltd, and assisted Royal Commissioner Tony Fitzgerald in writing his report on corruption in Queensland. She has published two novels, the first of which won the A&R Bookworld Prize, and her investigative reporting won her a Walkley commendation in 1990. She is a regular contributor to Eureka Street and the Leader group of suburban newspapers.
