Jack Reacher takes aim at the White House in the sixth novel in Lee Child’s New York Times bestselling series.
Skilled, cautious, and anonymous, Jack Reacher is perfect for the job: to assassinate the vice president of the United States. Theoretically, of course. A female Secret Service agent wants Reacher to find the holes in her system, and fast—because a covert group already has the vice president in their sights. They’ve planned well. There’s just one thing they didn’t plan on: Reacher.

Classic Reacher!
Hauntingly descriptive, a good primer on assault weaponry, but what keeps me thoroughly engaged is the satisfying administration of JR justice. I read any Reacher book I can get my hands on, and this earlier one in the series just became available. There was no loss of story line, and the character of Neagley was welcome and enjoyable (I would advocate a Neagley series focusing on her post-military specialty consultant work). Lee Child’s character development is multi-faceted, with some obviously bad guys, some totally incompetent government officials, but also several men and women with enough redeeming qualities that you really do care whether they get killed, and if they do, there’s a kind of hero’s tribute for their sacrifice because the stakes are so high. Without Fail is a great combination of strategy, suspense, humor, retribution and Reacher lore.
