Cover detail from The Churn by James S. A. Corey
The Expanse series is set in an imagined future where human life can be found throughout the Solar System, and is governed by a tense and contested interplanetary military alliance. These science fiction novels are co-authored by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (under the pen name James S. A. Corey) and each author is responsible for the writing of chapters told from different perspectives; these make up the varied points of view of several characters whom we follow throughout the series. The story begins on board a ship called Canterbury that comes across a suspiciously abandoned transport vessel relaying a distress signal, and continues to span across our planetary system.
The flagship book received the Hugo Award for Best Novel, and the series was among those nominated for the first Hugo Award for Best Series, as well as being adapted for television.
